International Yoga Day 2026 | Yoga for Healthy Ageing

Every year on the 21st of June, across the world, people of every age, background and ability roll out their yoga mats and move together. International Yoga Day is a reminder that this practice, ancient, simple and profound, belongs to everyone.

This year's theme for International Yoga Day is Yoga for Healthy Ageing.

As we move through life, our bodies and minds naturally change. Yoga offers a gentle yet powerful way to support those changes. Through movement, breath and mindfulness, yoga helps us maintain strength, flexibility, balance and mobility while supporting our mental and emotional wellbeing.

Healthy ageing is not about turning back the clock. It is about feeling strong, capable and connected in the body you have today. Yoga teaches us to move with awareness, to listen to our bodies and to cultivate habits that support our wellbeing for years to come. Whether you are stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time or have been practising for decades, yoga meets you exactly where you are.

One of Em's favourite yoga teachers is Annie Carpenter (pictured above), often referred to as the "teacher's teacher." Annie has spent decades studying, practising and sharing yoga around the world, creating a highly respected system of yoga practice and teaching methodology. Known for her playful personality, and extraordinary depth of knowledge, Annie brings clarity, wisdom and exuberance to her teaching. She is a beautiful example of how a lifelong yoga practice can continue to evolve, inspire and enrich both the practitioner and the wider yoga community.

International Yoga Day 2026. Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom, and World Peace

The first International Yoga Day was observed around the world on 21 June 2015, and is celebrated every year. The day aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.

Each year on June 21, millions around the globe gather in parks, studios and quiet corners of their homes to honour the ancient practice of yoga. International Yoga Day is a collective moment to recognise yoga’s power to heal, connect and ground us in the present.

In the spirit of this year's theme, our founder Em is gifting a free Printed Yoga Flow with every order placed around International Yoga Day. This sequence is close to her heart, it is Em's go-to and we hope it becomes yours too. Sixteen poses, designed from a Hatha perspective, for every body, every level and every age. Hold each pose for 3–5 breaths, or let it become a flow.

"Yoga found me through my family long before I ever stepped onto a mat. My grandmother used to take the train into Melbourne to practice at the Gita School of Yoga in the 1960s. In her spirit, I became a yoga teacher and started Yogi Peace Club. This practice has given me a way back to myself, a community I treasure, and a deep belief that when we find peace within, we carry something different out into the world.  On International Yoga Day, we celebrate all of that and we celebrate you, for showing up to your practice in whatever way feels right."
