CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2023
Today is International Yoga Day. Embracing this day promotes unity and inner peace within ourselves and as a global community.
At YPC, we live and breathe yoga and celebrate the profound significance of yoga in our lives. It helps us to stay grounded and connected, nurturing physical vitality, mental clarity, and spiritual growth. Let us honour and rejoice in the transformative power of yoga together.
'Humanity' is the focus of International Yoga Day 2023. The festivities surrounding International Yoga Day seek to raise awareness of the holistic benefits of yoga and to promote it as a daily practice for better health all around the world. International Yoga Day is a wonderful opportunity to spread the love of yoga.
Yoga has had such a huge impact on my life, I value my daily practice and receive so much joy from practicing and teaching yoga. When I step onto my yoga mat, I connect to my authentic self, it helps me to reset and become present. I am so grateful to have a life filled with yoga and for the benefits it brings into my day. When I am not regularly practicing yoga, I feel it in my mind and body.
Yoga is a journey. I have been practicing for over 20 years. I continue to enjoy the layers of learning and growing that come with it. It is so vast, the more I study, learn and uncover, it seems the less I know! It’s like studying the universe ~ it’s infinite. 💫
It doesn't matter where you are on your yoga journey, from your first class or coming back to practice after a break or injury, there is no judgment. Yoga is kind, it is inclusive and you never regret stepping on your yoga mat.
Yoga embraces you, it holds you, it provides clarity and balance; and for me realigns my energy. Each time I step on my yoga mat I receive a gift of spaciousness, a connection to breath, and a chance to be grateful, while reflecting on self, and all the beautiful things in my life, through the lens of yoga.
Along this journey, yoga has also gifted me connection with many wonderful beings. This IYD, I would like to honour Simone Callahan. Simone has been practicing yoga for over 17 years and continues her practice with passion and humility. Since Simone started her yoga journey, she has studied deeply in Iyengar, Ashtanga and now Vinjasa yoga. She is a gentle titan, her approach to life is something I admire greatly and draw inspiration from. Perhaps her yoga practice has deepened her calm persona or perhaps it amplifies it.
Simone has graciously written a forward for our Yoga Pose Guide Booklet. We have created this booklet for the community, to celebrate International Yoga Day.
We hope it inspires you to find yourself on your mat as often as possible.
